For the hosts, Robin Peterson and Ravi Rampaul bowled well to rattle Zouks’ batting line-up before Wayne Parnell’s two-wicket burst sealed the deal for them. The trio of Andre Fletcher, Michael Hussey and Darren Sammy got starts but failed to get their team past the finish line.

Earlier in the match, the visitors were able to keep a lid on the scoring rate for most parts of Tridents’ innings but the fearless pair of de Villiers and Pooran rescued their side with a stand of 68 runs in 40 balls to keep them in the hunt to post a competitive score. However, Taylor snared the prized scalp of de Villiers with a slower delivery to lift the spirits of the Zouks’ camp. It was only when de Villiers was sawned off that Pooran decided to take charge of the innings and he did it with ease.

Kyle Mayers and Watson bore the brunt of Pooran’s aggressive play. He also stitched a 49-run stand with skipper, Kieron Pollard.Taylor was the best bowler on show for the visitors and was rewarded with two scalps however the rest of the bowlers struggled for consistency.
