A revamp of the various cricket academies – regional and state – has been suggested to the Cricket Board to remove overlapping of some functions by the BCCI’s Specialised Academies Committee headed by its chairman M P Pandove.

The suggestion of the Pandove-headed committee will be among the items that would come up for discussion at the BCCI’s Emergent Working Committee meeting to be held in Delhi on December 3.

“There is overlapping of some functions and the Special Academies Committee chaired by Pandove has suggested an overhaul of state and regional academies. It would be taken up at the Emergent Working Committee meeting of the Board at Delhi on December 3,” said BCCI’s Chief Administrative Officer Prof Ratnakar Shetty on Wednesday.

Shetty further said that the recommendations of the sub-committees that have met after the Board’s previous Working Committee meeting held on October 29 at Kolkata would be tabled for discussion at the meeting.

Shetty said discussions over the proposed revised Sports Bill are unlikely as the Board has already sent its reply to the government on the subject.

“We have already replied to the government on this issue,” he said, adding it was a routine Working Committee meeting that would take up for approval decisions arrived at by the sub-committees of the Board which have met after the last WC meeting.

At the previous WC meeting, the new player gradation for annual contracts was decided along with the appointment of Evan Speechly as the physiotherapist of the national team and approval of the institution of two new annual awards in memory of former captain Lala Amarnath. (PTI)
