The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) working committee on Tuesday failed to arrive at a decision on whether to bring the former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin under the parent body’s fold.

According to a report in the Deccan Herald, the board will approach the High Court to seek clarification on its order related to the former Indian captain.

“We will seek a clarification from the Andhra Pradesh HC on exactly what the order meant. We will take a decision on Azhar only after that,” an official was quoted by the newspaper.

Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh High Court lifted life ban on former Indian captain by the cricket board, and had termed the ban as “illegal”.

“The decision on Azharuddin’s future in BCCI has been deferred. The working committee was undecided on whether to appeal against the decision or not. The legal team is still studying the case and it will still take some time to reach a conclusion,” a senior BCCI official preferring anonymity told PTI.
