The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to summon under-fire captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and coach Duncan Fletcher for a meeting to take stock of the Indian cricket team’s disastrous overseas record in the last three years.

Top BCCI sources said that the top brass wants to review the performance of the team after their ignominious tour of New Zealand where they lost both the Test and ODI series.

It is learnt that the BCCI top brass “wants to review the team’s performance away from home and probably discuss with them ways to improve the its overseas record”.

The matter is also set to come up for discussion during the Board’s working committee meeting in Bhubaneswar on February 28.

Dhoni and Fletcher have come under the scanner after India’s fourth consecutive series defeats abroad and have become subjects of intense criticism from former players as well as the media, with Sourav Ganguly going to the extent of terming the 32-year-old’s captaincy as “obnoxious”.

However, former cricketers like Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Syed Kirmani felt that the embattled skipper can be retained for some more time.

The Dhoni-Fletcher combination started from India’s disastrous tour of England in 2011 when they were whitewashed 0-4. That was followed by another similar thrashing in a four-match series in Australia in 2011-12.

India’s overseas blues came back to haunt the team as they suffered series defeats in South Africa and New Zealand by 0-1 margins, prompting the cricket fraternity to criticise the skipper and coach.

But it was also learnt that the board is likely to keep the faith on the duo for the time being.

Fletcher’s overseas record shows 10 defeats in 15 matches and the Zimbabwean’s contract ends in March end this year.
