Bhatia shows fight but Chennai surge ahead

Apr 23, 2014

Jadeja was hit through midwicket by Bhatia to raise hopes of a miracle as RR plodded on to 109 for eight after eighteen overs in their chase of 141 against the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2014 match 10 at Dubai. Ashwin, bowling the eighteenth over, conceded just five off the over.

Earlier, Ashwin was brought on to bowl the sixteenth over. He kept it tight, bowling slow through the air and giving nothing away. Rajasthan could only milk 5 runs off his over.

Jadeja came in and took his fourth wicket of the evening as Rajasthan sunk further in their chase of 141 against the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2014 match 10 at Dubai. Jadeja clean bowled Southee, to leave RR at 85 for eight in the fifteenth over.

Rajasthan finished Pandey’s over nicely as Southee, joining Bhatia at the middle, smacked him for a boundary through midwicket.

Earlier, Ishwar Pandey came on to bowl the fourteenth over, and was hit for a boundary by Faulkner. Pandey came back well and had him caught behind next ball as RR slumped to 80 for seven in their chase of 141 against the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2014 match 10 at Dubai.

Jadeja bowled the 13th over of the innings. Smith played a lofted shot that was in the air for some time, but Mohit Sharma failed to hang on to a very tough chance. Smith hit the next ball for a boundary, before holing out to long off.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals were struggling at 66 for five after 12 overs, in their chase of 141 against the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2014 match 10 at Dubai. Rajasthan require another 75 runs to win from 48 balls, with five wickets in hand. Stuart Binny was the last man to be dismissed as he mishit a stroke off Mohit Sharma and Faf du Plessis took an easy catch to send back the Rajasthan batsman.

Raina, bowling the next over beat Smith comprehensively, but Dhoni fluffed a simple chance. Smith lives to fight another over in their IPL 2014 match against Chennai Super Kings in Dubai. Mohit Sharma came in to bowl the ninth over, and conceded just six runs off it. Smith and Binny taking no undue risks, take the score to 53 for four after nine overs. 88 runs were needed off the last 11 overs, with the required rate slowly climbing.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals suffered a collapse as they were stuttering at 47 for four after eight overs in their IPL 2014 match against Chennai Super Kings in Dubai. Rajasthan need another 94 runs to win from the remaining 12 overs in the IPL 7 match.

Rajasthan Royals were 38 for two after six overs. Rajasthan need a further 103 runs to win from the remaining 14 overs with eight wickets in hand. Huge six by Samson over long on, Hilfenhaus the victim. And Samson wasn’t done yet, as he hit another six in the same over. It was a tremendous batting display by the youngster.

Ashwin bowls the sixth over and strikes promptly, getting rid of a good-looking Ajinkya Rahane. Watson and Samson see off the over.

Earlier in the first innings, Rajasthan Royals (RR) produced an inspired bowling performance to limit the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to 140 for six in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Dwayne Smith scored a quickfire 50 off 28 balls, and his innings was the only bright spot for Chennai Super Kings as the other batsmen failed to get going against the disciplined Rajasthan bowling attack.

The Royals continued with their strategy of taking the pace off the ball and strangling the opposition batsmen,  which paid off handsomely. The Super Kings, despite being provided an excellent start, failed to put up a fight and suffered a batting collapse in the middle overs, which hampered their chances of putting a strong total.
