Chennai Super Kings have started off stably in their run-chase of 146 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014. Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith are batting in the centre and in three overs, Hyderabad are 20 for no loss.
Smith got off the mark when he punched Dale Steyn through the off-side for a couple. Smith then lofted one over the off-side and it went through for four. The first over ended at six for no loss. Bhuvneshwar Kumar then started proceedings at the other end and got an edge off McCullum’s bat off the first ball. However, the batsmen got a single then. Smith then tried an expansive shot, but then inside edged it, which just missed the stumps and went for four. In the third over, Steyn bowled short and McCullum pulled it for six even through the fielder was on the ropes.
Earlier, Dhawan had won the toss and chosen to bat first on the Sharjah wicket that is known to be conducive for batting. Hyderabad made one change to their line-up, in view of strengthening their bowling attack. Ishant Sharma came in to replace Naman Ojha. Aaron Finch scored 44 and then later some late surge helped Hyderabad score 145.
