Brendon McCullum fought his way to a century against India in the second Test in Wellington on February 16, 2014. He got to his century with a big six over long-on off a delivery from Ishant Sharma. This is McCullum’s ninth century in Test cricket.
New Zealand are at 250 for five after 94 overs in their second innings on Day Three. They have overturned a 246-run deficit at the start of the innings and now lead India by four runs. McCullum is batting on 113 and BJ Watling is on 51. This is Watling’s seventh half-century in Test cricket. McCullum was also dropped twice in the second innings. Virat Kohli dropped him the first time at short mid-on and then Ishant Sharma dropped him of his own bowling.
This is also the slowest century McCullum has scored in Test cricket. He took 197 deliveries to get to his century. He has so far struck 14 fours and one six in his innings. He also scored 224 runs in the first Test that New Zealand won by 40 runs.
