England women’s team beat Australia in the one off Test match at Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) ground. Yet, England captain Charlotte Edwards knows that they have to carry that good form into One-Day International (ODI) series and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) to win women’s Ashes. The women’s Ashes is played over all three formats. The victory in the Test match helped Edwards’s led England team to garner six points.
Sky Sports News reported Edwards as saying, “I think there’s actually more pressure, it’s even more important that we win.
“Having played so well in Perth it’s really important that we carry that momentum through to the two ODIs in Melbourne,” Edwards stated.
Edwards continued, “It was a fantastic win yesterday, we’ve had a day off today and got a day off tomorrow, we’re ecstatic but we’ve still got a big job to do.
“We’re going to have a bit of rest and recovery and we have a warm up game on Friday against a Chairman’s XI so we have some good preparation before Sunday. The girls throughout the whole Test match fought so hard and I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved.”
Edwards though, remained cautious and concluded that she is looking at one match at a time, “I’m not looking too far ahead, it’s about Sunday for us and getting two wins, our goal is to win every game.”
