Chennai floods: N Srinivasan donates Rs 2 crores

Srinivasan, along with his daughter, met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday and handed over the cheque.

Former International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman N Srinivasan showed an appreciable gesture as he donated Rs 2 Crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the Chennai Floods. Srinivasan, along with his daughter, met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday and handed over the cheque. The whole cricketing fraternity has joined hands to help flood-affected Chennai to a great extent. The list includes Tamil Nadu cricketers like Abhinav Mukund, Baba Aparajith and Baba Indrajith, who were seen helping with relief work and distributing essentials among those affected by the calamity. Indian Cricket team members Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay showed great sportsmanship as they continued to play in the series against South Africa while their respective families were stuck in the flood. Ashwin later dedicated his Man of the Series award to the people who suffered from the floods.

He tweeted, “Happiness got the better of me,I would like to dedicate my man of the series to the ppl suffering from the Chennai floods.”

 

Sri Lankan legends Kumar Sangakkara and Muttiah Muralitharan donated sums of Rs 60 lakhs and Rs 1 crore respectively which was a beautiful and kind gesture from these two.

N Srinivasan has been in the news recently as he has been sacked from the post of Chairman of ICC in November following CBI investigations that claimed some controversies relating to his various ownerships.
