West Indies’ explosive opener Chris Gayle was felicitated by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) with a Special Award ahead of his 100th Test. Gayle was awarded at the WICB-WIPA annual awards on Friday.
Gayle however is unsure of featuring in the first Test at Kingston starting June 8. Gayle has suffered a back injury during the World T20 2014 and had missed a few matches in the Indian premier League (IPL).
The awards ceremony is an initiative of the WICB and the West Indies Player Association (WIPA). The WICB and the WIPA awarded cricketers across 12 categories, which include male and female cricketer of the year, emerging player of the year, first class team of the year, under-19 cricketer and team of the year among others.
