Chris Tremlett took eight for 96 for Surrey against Durham at Chester-le-Street and passed a strong message to the England selectors who didn’t select the tall fast bowler for the final Ashes Test match at The Oval.
The visitors, Surrey were reeling at 97 for six in reply to Durham’s 421. Surrey batsmen surrendered meekly as even Hashim Amla, the new recruit, failed to click scoring only 14 reports BBC.
Tremlett had taken all the five wickets to fall on Day One. On the second day he had nightwatchman Jamie Harrison caught behind. Jade Dernbach had Paul Collingwood which ended Tremlett’s attempt to pick up all ten wickets in the innings.
Chris Woakes made it to the playing XI in the final Test. Simon Kerrigan too made the cut in place of Jonny Bairstow. Tremlett has last played for England in 2012 against Pakistan. This performance might help him make a comeback in the England scheme of things.
