Suresh Raina, the Chennai Super Kings batsman, believes that they are a well-knit side and that has helped them translate that into success on the field of play. Raina and Chennai are preparing for the Champions League T20 (CLT20) 2014. They have an enviable trophy cabinet, with two Indian Premier League (IPL) titles and one CLT20 triumph.

Speaking to Times of India, Raina said, “I think we not only have wonderful players who have done well over the years, but also been blessed with a great bunch of coaching and support staff. And our players share a special bond with them and that gets reflected in our performances on the field.”

When asked about MS Dhoni’s success as captain, Raina said, “Dhoni is one of the best skippers we have across all formats. His records speak volumes about his ability to lead a side from the front. He has always supported me whether I was turning up for India or CSK. Once your skipper shows such faith in your abilities, all you have to do is back it up with performances.”

Chennai will begin their CLT20 2014 campaign with a match against their IPL rivals Kolkata Knight Riders on September 17, 2014. Chennai are one of the strongest units in the tournament and their familiarity with the home conditions should play a big role in helping them do well.
