What batting by the opening duo and Jamaica didn’t have a sniff. Guptill struck the winning runs and it went right through the hands of Chris Gayle, who has had a woeful week. There is no better way to get into the final.

Thought the target was going to be slightly competitve but these Simmons and Guptill have just made mincemeat out of the Jamaica bowling attack. Both have reached half-centuries and it is getting down to be a contest of who scores more by the end of the chase. Can they win by 10 wickets?

When Martin Guptill strikes the ball, rarely does it not cross the first or second tier. Being one of the cleanest strikers of the ball, he is simply ripping the Jamican attack to shreads and Simmons is not far behind too. This match could be over in a hurry from the way things stand.

Guyana needed one over to get on top of Jamaica and they got it. NewZealander Martin Guptill took the attack to Jerome Taylor and the pacer had no answer to Guptill’s onslaught. A flurry of sixes and fours flowed off his blade and Guyana are racing along.

Just like Jamaica, Guyana have also made a steady start without losing any wickets. The required run rate is under control and the batsmen have been going rather cautiously.

After all the initial good work, Ronsford Beaton bowls a rubbish penultimate over which is taken to the cleaners by Jerome Taylor. Rusty Theron starts the last over by smoking a big six over long off off Santokie. The last ball yeidls a run out with both batsmen trying to scamper for quick runs with the left arm medium pacer coming back well.

What just happened there? Nkrumah Bonner slams a ball and Krishmar Santokie gets his fingers on the ball, which bobbles in the air and catches Andre Russell off his crease. That was excellent work by Santokie. The very next delivery, Bonner goes for the long hop in an attempt to avenge Russell’s wicket and only ends up holing out in the deep. Guyana on top here.
A Russell Run Out 20(12), N Bonner c Hafeez b Santokie 21(22)

the RussellMania has started and you just cannot bowl short to this guy. Two pulls were bludgeoned away in full throttle, leaving the deep mid-wicket fielder no chance. Watch this space for more carnage off Russell’s blade.

The run rate was just improving but after the departure of the two openers, it has slumped yet again. This in turn put pressure on the batsman and Adam Voges, who had yet another torrid stay at the crease is stumped off a wide ball by Denesh Ramdin. It was good work by Hafeez, who deliberately darted the ball down the leg side after spotting the batsman advancing down the track. The big man, Andre Russell has arrived.
OUT! A Voges st Ramdin b Hafeez 7(13)

There goes another one and its skipper Chris Gayle this time. It was a bad time to lose a wicket and Gayle’s laboured stay is ended by a well judged catch in the deep by Lendl Simmons.
C Gayle c Simmons b Neesham 19(23)

Sunil Narine is on and he strikes immediately. The ball is pitched slightly short and it grips the surface and Walton pulls it straight to Martin Guptill’s safe hands.
OUT! C Walton c Guptill b Narine 34(35)

No, its not Gayle but Walton who is on the march. Its Jimmy Neesham who is on and the batsman treats him with a loft down back over the bowler’s head for a boundary. The next ball is a momstorous stike with the ball disappearing intoi the sea behind the stadium. What a hit that was!

The bowlers continue to stifle the Jamaicans and boundaries have been hard to come by and the openers continue to deal in singles. Expect Gayle to take the ariel route soon with the run rate just about a paltry five an over.

Finally Walton has woken up up from his slumber and has slammed a couple of cracking shots for boundaries behind square. Proabably heard my call half way around across the world.

Rather strange from Jamiaica. Its been a rather quite start from these power-hitting openers and with five overs gone, they still haven’t got a move on. Ramdin will be delighted with his bowlers’ show so far.

Not much happened apart from a Chris Gayle boundary in the second over. It was a bad delivery which was tucked away to the fine leg boundary. Krishmar Santokie bowled the third over. The left armer was spot on and Walton was nearly run-out after a mid pitch mix up with his captain. The throw from gully misses the stumps and Walton makes it home. He hurts himself in the process though.

Mohammad Hafeez starts the bowling for Guyana and its singles — careullly stroked ones at that that start proceedings in St Kitts. Its a tidy start from the Pakistani all-rounder.
Toss: Guyana win toss, Denesh Ramdin opts to field first

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’ s coverage of the second play-off match between Jamaica Tallawahs and Guyana Amazon Warriors in St-. Kitts. In the first play-off match yesterday, Andre Russell, the beefy all-rounder has been largely a fringe player for West Indies and for his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders. The Caribbean Premier League (CPL), though has witnessed the blossoming of Russell from a bits and pieces cricketer, being a squad member to merely make up the numbers to a reliable finisher down the order. From a sure-shot winning position, Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel had no answer to Russell’s breathtaking onslaught which took Jamaica across the finish line with four wickets and two balls to spare. Defending champions Guyana have yet again been in sparkling form and are touted to retain the trophy. Hi I am R Vishal and I will be bringing you live updates of the match
