Craig McDermott, Australia’s fast bowling coach has denied applying for Sri Lanka’s head coach position. The former Australian cricketer said that he wanted to help Australia regain No 1 Test ranking and win the ICC World Cup 2015.

“I can categorically say that I have not applied nor am I interested in pursuing the Sri Lankan head coach position. I’ve recently re-signed with Cricket Australia and am very happy with the role I’m doing here in Australia.”, McDermott was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. Currently, Marvan Atapattu is Sri Lanka’s head coach, who took the position after Paul Farbrace left.

Other than McDermott, the likes of Paddy Upton and Eric Simmons too have denied applying for the job.
