He took 43 deliveries to reach to the landmark, which is now the fastest hundred by a captain in IPL history. Majority of Warner’s runs came in boundaries as he hit 10 fours and 8 sixes. SRH put up 126 without any loss in 11 overs at the time of Warner’s century. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: SRH vs KKR, Match 37
A total of 88 runs were scored by Warner in boundaries, which is the joint 2nd-most runs by a captain in boundaries in IPL after Virat Kohli (96 out of 113 in boundaries for RCB against KXIP in 2016). Warner shares this record with Virender Sehwag, who scored 88 out of his 119 in boundaries for Delhi Daredevils (DD) against Deccan Chargers (DC) in 2011.
Warner also scored the joint fastest half-century for an SRH batsman, reaching the milestone off 20 deliveries, with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes. He shares the record with Moises Henriques and himself. Warner looked more comfortable against the spinners on a contrary to the latest IPL trend, hitting both Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav at a strike rate over 200. He also looked comfortable against Chris Woakes.
Warner now takes over Orange Cap from Gautam Gambhir. As he reached 122 in his innings, he went past Sehwag’s record for most runs in an innings as captain in IPL. Warner was finally dismissed by Chris Woakes for 126 after facing 59 balls.
Sunrisers Hyderabad were on No. 3 position in the IPL 2017 points table before the start of the match, winning five of the nine matches they played. Now setting a target of 210 (highest total by a team against KKR), they in all probability will get two points from this game.
