Australian opening batsman David Warner hammered a ton for New South Wales Blues against Western Australia Warriors in a pre-season match at Brisbane.

According to a report in Cricket Australia’s official website, Warner smashed 142 off a mere 117 deliveries to propel the Blues to 336 for six, an innings which resulted in a staggering 132-run victory for his side. Moises Henriques made an unbeaten 84 as well to support him. The Warriors could only manage 127 for eight in response.

Warner spoke about his knock, saying, “The exciting thing there is that it gives me a bit of an opportunity to put my face in front of everyone, and broaden my horizons and show people what I can do.”

The hard-hitting batsman felt that his bad-boy image was not an accurate one. “I wouldn’t say reputation, but I just want other people to see a different side to me — instead of what they read. I love to commentate — not just call games — but the ins and outs of all the different sports, just to be a part of sport in general. And as I say, you’ve got to broaden your horizons in different areas as well — not just cricket.”
