Former India skipper Dilip Vengsarkar was honoured by the Indo-Canadian Community in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada on Friday. The Indian Consul General to Canada, Ravi Shankar Aisola was also present at the event.
The Link reported that the function was organised by Varinder Parhar.
Vengsarkar is on a trip to Canada and is promoting the game of cricket. Parhar said, “He’s my friend but he’s also a great ambassador for the sport of cricket. His visit certainly will help the sport among young kids and give them the inspiration to reach higher.”
Vengsarkar also spoke at the function and recounted some great moments of his international career.
Canada has seen its cricket team participate in the last three World Cups, but the sport needs to be promoted there.
