West Indies opener Dwayne Smith‘s half-century helped the Caribbean outfit post a challenging total of 172 for the loss of five wickets against Sri Lanka in their ICC World T20 2014 warm-up match at Dhaka on Wednesday.

Smith scored 60 off 45 balls, smashing two sixes and eight fours. In the third over of the West Indies innings, Chris Gayle smashed two fours off Angelo Mathews‘s bowling. However, Gayle could add 12 runs before Thisara Perera took a catch at long-on off Rangana Herath’s delivery to remove the West Indies danger man.

Dwayne Bravo put up a fight after Smith departed.  Bravo slammed six fours and scored 43 valuable runs off 31 balls. Just when it seemed that along with Darren Sammy he would finish the West Indian innings, Bravo was dismissed by Suranga Lakmal.

Sammy joined the party in the 17th over. In between taking quick singles, Sammy slammed two sixes and one four. Sammy was unbeaten on 30 along with Andre Russell.

Andre Fletcher also didn’t last long. He scored four off nine balls as Herath trapped him leg before wicket.

Smith continued his thunderstorm by smashing two fours and one six off Ajantha Mendis in the 1th over of the match.

Smith was finally removed by Seekkuge Prasanna at the end of the 13th over.

Herath was pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka, picking up two wickets from his four overs.

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and put West Indies to bat.

Brief scores:

West Indies 172 for 5 in 20 overs (Dwayne Smith 60, Dwayne Bravo 43; Rangana Herath 2 for 20) vs Sri Lanka.
