Elton Chigumbura has been appointed Zimbabwe’s One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International captain as the country’s cricketing setup has witnessed a few changes. The call was made after Zimbabwe were beaten by Afghanistan in the fourth ODI recently and the series was shared by both teams. Brendan Taylor would remain Zimbabwe’s Test captain.
The decision to split captaincy was made during Zimbabwe Cricket’s (ZC) recent meeting. The other big development was that Peter Chingoka resigned as the chief of the body after 22 years. Wilson Manase will take over as the chairman of ZC.
This is Chigumbura’s second stint as Zimbabwe captain. Taylor had succeeded him after the 2011 World Cup.
