Eoin Morgan does not want England to get carried away after the 1-4 drubbing over Australia in their own den. It, however, is evidence to the fact that England are a force to reckon with, especially in the limited-overs, making them favourites in the 2019 World Cup at home. Surprisingly, he also said that England did not play to their potential: that, or he said so to belittle his arch-rivals.

Now, England coach Trevor Bayliss has added more the matter — only he did not complain about his time. He thinks his team are the top contenders to lift the next World Cup. “The way we have been playing one-day cricket over the last few years and the way we continue to play, and obviously with the World Cup at home, we should be one of the favourites,” Bayliss told ESPNcricinfo.

“Only time will tell how we handle that but, if we go in to all of the series between now and that World Cup thinking we are favourites, then that will be good practice for us and we will see how the players react.”

England rank No. 3 in ICC ODI Rankings, after South Africa and India.
