The event isn’t as serious as the headline sounds. The local team from Sparkhill, Birmingham may have won this contest but they will cherish this lifetime experience. Ahead of the much-awaited Ashes, Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow and Chris Woakes faced another stiff challenge.

In the video uploaded by BBC, we see the English cricketers taking on a local street cricket team in a 6-on-6 contest. The rules for the six-a-side and 20-balls-a-side contest were clearly explained to the cricketers. There was no LBW in this format. Moeen starred with bat but did not really get adequate support from his other two teammates with the bat.

This game is a rare moment where you would see Bairstow bowling. Yes, the Yorkshireman rolled his arms over when the team from Sparkhill needed two to win. A boundary was fetched.

England will hope for their fortunes to change in the Ashes 2017-18. The game after Day One is evenly poised at 196 for 4. Moeen is fighting it out in the middle and Bairstow and Woakes are yet to play a role in the Brisbane Test.
