Australia lost their third wicket with 171 runs on board when Steven Smith was caught by James Taylor off the bowling of Adil Rashid for a score of 70 off 87 balls during the second One-Day International (ODI) against England at Lord’s on Saturday. The Australian captain, aiming for a century, went for an ambitious stroke which resulted in a thick edge that caused the ball to fly towards Taylor, who was nestled at short backward point, for an easy catch. Rashid, who starred for England in the first ODI with a haul of 4 for 59, got his first wicket of the second game as a result. All-rounder Shane Watson, who is currently under fire for a poor form with the bat, came out to bat alongside Glenn Maxwell as a result of the dismissal. Earlier in the match, opening batsman David Warner was forced to leave the field retired hurt after sustaining a painful blow to his left thumb while trying to fend a bouncer off the bowling of Steven Finn. It is however, likely that Warner might return to bat at a later stage during the game, although it is pretty much certain that he will not be fielding. Finn then went on to bowl Joe Burns with an inswinging delivery, with the batsman missing the line of the delivery completely while attempting to go for a straight drive. Both George Bailey and Smith brought up their half-centuries off 63 and 68 deliveries, with the partnership between them reaching the 99-run mark before Moeen Ali struck by dismissing Bailey.
