Chasing yet another humongous score of 227 posted by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Chennai Super Kings got off too a start that they dreaded when Faf du Plessis failed to connect to a Mitchell Johnson short ball. Skipper Geroge Bailey positioned himself well and concentrated well to take a good catch at mid on. Suresh Raina then came to the crease and flick a boundary on the leg-side.
Nine runs came off the eventful first over and Raina then tore into Sandeep Sharma in the second over with two superb straight drives down the ground for boundaries and then smashed a huge six over deep mid-wicket. Then Raina smashed through the overs to bring up 18 runs of the over. Then Awana erred in line and Raina played an effortless pull short to the boundary.
Virender Sehwag‘s vintage hundreds made a comeback in the most stunning fashion to take Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) to a humungous score of 226 for six after MS Dhoni decided to continue to play to Chennai Super Kings‘ (CSK) strengths by electing to field first. All of Chennai’s bowlers were taken apart in a knock that had the Sehwag rubber-stamp on it during his knock of 122 from 57 balls. There were good supporting cameos by Manan Vohra at the top and David Miller played a blinder towards the end.
