Gautam Gambhir finally opened his account in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 as he got a single off Mitchell Johnson. But then, he was dismissed for one as he tried to charge to Sandeep Sharma and holed out to Akshar Patel at mid-off. In their run-chase of 133, Kolkata Knight Riders are in trouble as they are 19 for three. After Gambhir’s dismissal, they lost Jacques Kallis as he played upishly to point off Lakshmipathy Balaji. In six overs, Kolkata are 24 for three. Robin Uthappa and Chris Lynn are batting in the centre.
Sandeep opened the bowling and started off with a wide. For a major part of the over thereafter, he was very much on line, but once he erred, Pandey smashed a cover drive for four. In the second over, Jacques Kallis essayed a magnificent cover drive off Mitchell Johnson for four. Gambhir and Kallis have to now guide Kolkata through this run-chase.
Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders had won the toss and elected to bowl. And, their spinners responded in style with Piyush Chawla taking three wickets and Sunil Narine also recording the same number of wickets.
