George Bailey, Australia’s one-day vice-captain, has said that he does not expect to be picked in the Test side ahead of the series against India. Bailey has been a fixture in the Australian One-Day International (ODI) side, but has not played a Test after the Ashes 2013-14.
Bailey was quoted in news.co.au, “No chance, I’d imagine. I think I’ve played two Shield games since being dropped from the Test squad and I think that certainly what the selectors would be looking at in terms of guys who could come in as replacements. The great opportunity the selectors have at the moment is that they can pick someone who is in really good form and putting some good numbers up.’’
Bailey was a member of the Australian side that won the Ashes 2013-14 5-0. However, he did not have a very successful time, though he did manage to hit 26 runs in an over off James Anderson at Perth and also hit a half-century. If Michael Clarke is not fit for the first Test against India, Brad Haddin will lead Australia.
