Australian batting all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has said that England has carried a little bit of the effects of their Ashes whitewash into the One-Day International (ODI) series, the first of which they lost on Sunday.

So smoothly is the Australian team rolling that the selectors have opted to release man-of-the-match Aaron Finch (121 runs) and paceman James Pattinson ahead of the second match at the Gabba on Friday in order to play for the Melbourne Renegades in their Big Bash League match.

According to News.com.au, Maxwell thinks that another clean sweep is on the cards for Australia, saying that the way England looked on the match, it felt as if they were still carrying the after-effects of their Ashes loss into the first ODI against Australia. Maxwell further said that he hopes Australia can keep their foot on the pedal and keep England to 10-0 down in the overall series and beat them in the Twenty20 internationals (T20I) as well, adding that the visitors looked particularly lethargic in the field, where they dropped several catches and bowled poorly.

There will be no respite for England, however, with Ashes hero Mitchell Johnson to return to the team on Friday for the second ODI and Maxwell believes Johnson will intimidate the touring one-day team in much the same way he did throughout the Ashes series.
