Glenn Maxwell wins CEAT Popular Choice Award

In the 17th CEAT cricket award that is presently being held at the Trident hotel, Mumbai, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was the recipient of the CEAT popular choice award. Maxwell was a huge hit at the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014.
Maxwell expressed his gratitude towards his IPL team, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), thanking skipper George Bailey. He affectionately referred to him as “Captain Smiling.”
The CEAT awards was first introduced in 1995. The Player ratings in Tests and One-Day Internationals (ODIs) take into consideration number of runs scored, number of wickets taken, number of catches taken and number of wicketkeeping dismissals in an innings. The player ratings for Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) additionally takes into consideration the economy rate of bowlers. Points are awarded on the basis of minimum runs scored or wickets taken, with bonuses for extra runs or wickets.
