Yuzvendra Chahal made his One-Day International (ODI) debut for India, after his successful stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Indian Premier League (IPL).
Born July 23, 1990 in Kind, Haryana, Yuzvendra Chahal turns 26 today. The leg-break googly bowler, who recently made his One-Day International (ODI) debut for India when a young team was chosen to tour Zimbabwe, rose from the Indian Premier League (IPL) success. He has played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL. Chahal was also the leading wicket-taker in the National Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy in 2009 as he took 34 wickets then. He also starred in the Champions League T20, that MI won in 2012. In the 3 ODIs that he has played, Chahal, managed to take 6 wickets for India. He bowled at an economy rate of 3.20. His best figures were 3 for 25. He also made his T20I debut for India on the same tour of Zimbabwe. He has 3 wickets in 3 T20Is. Chahal like many other youngsters who toured Zimbabwe, played under India’s T20 and ODI captain MS Dhoni, and would have certainly gained some insights as well as exposure from the few outings that they got.
In First-Class cricket Chahal has played 20 matches and taken 37 wickets at an average of 43.97. His economy rate is 3.31. His best figures are 4 for 22. Among the 28 List A matches, Chahal has 31 wickets to his name. His best bowling figures are 6 for 24.
Chahal has emerged as one of the most successful leg-spinners in India, from the limelight that he was showered upon by the IPL. He might be a player to watch out for in future.
