George Bailey will be leading Hobart Hurricanes as they aim for the Big Bash League season 7title. Bailey earlier led the side during the tournament’s fifth season. However, for the sixth season the Hurricanes appointed Tim Paine to take charge. Paine, too, has been re-contracted by the team, and will be the vice-captain. Bailey was Hurricanes’ most successful batsman last year, scoring 247 runs in eight innings and will be a key player. Paine, too, had a good time as he scored 227 runs in as many innings. Both Paine and Bailey have expressed their excitement post the announcement. READ: Shadab Khan joins Brisbane Heat

“I’m really excited about this opportunity, it’s been a couple of years since I’ve had the captaincy. There’s been a few changes – new coach, new CEO, so there’ll be a different feel around the group. It’s the one tournament Tasmania hasn’t won yet so I’m looking forward to rectifying that,” Bailey told Cricbuzz.

While Paine said, “I’m really excited by the opportunity to work with George as vice-captain this season. I think our leadership styles will work well together. We’ve obviously both been with the Hurricanes for some time now and it’s great to have a couple of Tasmanians leading the side. Hopefully with the squad we’re putting together we can be a really competitive side in BBL 07 and get back to playing in the finals.”

Apart from Paine and Bailey, Dan Christian and Cameron Boyce are there in Hurricanes’ squad this season. Bailey and Paine were both parts of ICC World XI in their just-concluded tour to Pakistan. Paine kept wickets in the first 2 matches, and Bailey replaced him as the keeper in the final T20I.
