Ian Bell achieved a record of scoring the most number of 50-plus scores among England batsmen in the last five years, when he scored his 35th against India at Old Trafford on Friday. Not only that, worldwide, he is on the No 2 rank behind Kumar Sangakkara, who has scored two more 50-plus scores than Bell.

Bell is playing his 104th Test match and has scored 21 hundreds and 41 fifties. Bell’s 13 Test hundreds and 22 half-centuries have come in the last five years. Moreover, he has played 56 Tests in the last five years.

Also among English batsmen, he has the best average. Test skipper Alastair Cook has played more Test matches than Bell in the last five years and have scored more runs than any other English player.
