India vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored her first international ton against England in the 2013 ICC Women’s World Cup match in Mumbai on Sunday.

Harmanpreet, known for her big-hitting, scored the runs in characteristic fashion taking only 102 balls to reach the landmark. Her knock included eight fours and two massive sixes hit straight down the ground.

It was the second century by an Indian woman in a World Cup after Thirush Kamini scored a ton in the previous match against the West Indies.

Chasing England’s 273 for victory, Harmanpreet came out to bat with India two wickets down for 29.  Soon after her arrival, Poonam Raut was dismissed for the same score. However, Harmanpreet revived India’s innings, adding 106 runs for the fourth wicket with Karu Jain.

However, her century went in vain as India lost the match by 32 runs.
