Former South African layer Lance Klusner has stated that wicketkeeper-batsman AB de Villiers and left-hander David Miller are South Africa’s best T20 hitters and need to bat up the order in the ICC World T20 2014. Klusner wants De Villiers to bat at No 3 and Miller to come in at No 4 or 5.
“The most boundaries will be hit during the power play while the ball is hard and the seam bowlers are in operation. In the latter part of the innings when the seam bowlers are back on, there will be another flurry of boundaries,” Klusner was quoted as saying by supersport.com.
“The best ploy would be to use your hard hitters early, and then shuffle your batting order to introduce your best players of spin in the middle overs when the slow bowlers will be used. David can win you games if you introduce him earlier,” he added.
Klusner has worked with Miller closely as he was the coach of the Dolphins team which Miller played for. The aggressive batsman had fired in the semi-final of the Ram Slam, South Africa’s T20 tournament.
