India took lead in the three-match ODI series against England  by defeating them by 8 wickets in the first ODI. The hosts started their innings well after being put in to bat, but Kuldeep Yadav spoiled their plans of a big total by picking 6 for 25. Kuldeep became the first left-arm spinner to pick six wickets in ODI, and achieved many more landmarks. In the chase, it was all Rohit Sharma show who recorded his 18th ODI century to win it for India with nearly 10 overs to spare. He and Virat Kohli added 167 to the third wicket partnership to ensure a win for India.
