India A piled up a mammoth 458 for 4 in their allotted 50 overs against Leicestershire at Grace Road, Leicester today. This is the second-highest List A score in history. The highest List A score remains Surrey’s 496 for 4 against Gloucestershire at The Oval in 2007. No other side has scored more than 445, though Nottinghamshire, England, and Sri Lanka (the last two in ODIs) have all breached the 440-mark. These are the highest scores in List A cricket.

444/3 England Pakistan Trent Bridge 2016
443/9 Sri Lanka Netherlands Amstelveen 2006

This is also the highest List A score by a representative Indian side. India A overhauled their own 433 for 3 against South Africa A at Pretoria where Shikhar Dhawan had smashed his famous 150-ball 248.

After Shreyas Iyer won the toss, Prithvi Shaw (132 in 90 balls, 20 fours, 3 sixes) and Mayank Agarwal (151* in 106 balls, 18 fours, 5 sixes) launched a furious onslaught on the hapless Leicestershire bowlers. They added an astonishing 221 in 26 overs at a run rate of 8.50 before Shaw was bowled by Ateeq Javid.

There was no respite for the Leicestershire bowlers as Shubman Gill kept thrashing them around for a 54-ball 86 (7 fours, 5 sixes). Agarwal retired for 151, but soon afterwards Gill hit 4 consecutive sixes off off-spinner Aadil Ali.

There was some respite when Rishabh Pant  fell to Scotland Under-19s bowler James Dickinson and Gill became Javid’s second wicket in quick succession, but Deepak Hooda and captain Iyer then got together to add 46, while Krunal Pandya joined in towards the end to propel the score to 458 for 4.

These are the highest scores by Indian representative sides in List A cricket.
