The India A squad has been announced for the upcoming one-day triangular series featuring the A teams of South Africa and Australia, as well as the four-day Tests against South Africa that follows. Unmukt Chand was named captain of the one-day squad, which witnesses the inclusion of players who featured in India’s recently-concluded tour of Zimbabwe in July such as Akshar Patel, Dhawan Kulkarni, Kedar Jadhav, Sanju Samson, etc. Ambati Rayudu, on the other hand, has been picked as the skipper of the Test squad, with Karun Nair being appointed the vice-captain of both squads. The squads were announced in a press release by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday.While all the one-day matches are scheduled to take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the two four-day Tests against South Africa A will take place at Wayanad in Kerala.
Earlier in the day, India A lost the second four-day Test to Australia A in Chennai. The visitors managed to put up a 349-run total after dismissing India A for 135. While the hosts tried harder in their second innings, getting dismissed for 274, Australia hardly had to toil to chase the 61-run target down, doing so with 10 wickets to spare. The second Test featured Virat Kohli, who intended to gain some practice ahead of India’s tour of Sri Lanka. Kohli had an average fare though, getting dismissed 16 and 45 respectively.
