Robin Uthappa-led India A is chasing 218 for victory in their third match against Cricket Australia’s National Performance Squad (NPS) at the Gardens Oval. In reply India A started their innings aggressively. At one point they scored 61 for one after runs nine overs. But they lost two quick wickets, till the last update India A are 92 for three after 17 overs. Robin Uthappa’s boys are looking for their second victory in the quadrangular series.
National Performance Squad won the toss and elected to bat. Middle order batsman Travis Head top scored (56) for NPS. For India A pacer Mohit Sharma took four wickets. Akshar Patel, the left arm spinner also took two wickets. India A lost their first match against Australia A by 28 runs but they bounced back in the second match by beating the South Africa A with a margin of 70 runs.
It was a bonus point victory for them. Manoj Tiwary blazed his way to a 73-ball 93 while Manish Pandey scored 91 off 108 balls as India ‘A’ piled up a commendable 326 for seven in 50 overs. In reply, medium fast bowler Dhawal Kulkarni ran through the middle-order claiming five for 54 as Proteas ‘A’ were all out for 256 in 47.1 overs. On the other side the National Performance Squad is playing their second match. In their first match they upset the Australia A by winning the match with a comfortable margin of 52-runs at Darwin’s Marrara Oval.
