Ind A 204/9 | Overs 46 | Nadeem 11*, Unadkat 5*
India A just making efforts to last 50 overs now. Last pair of Shahbaz Nadeem and Jaydev Unadkat on crease now. Sumit Narwal and Vinay Kumar have been dismissed by Cummins and Andre Russell in consecutive overs.
Cummins has made a great impression with four for 31 in his 10 overs.
Ind A 177/7 | Overs 41 | Narwal 9*, V Kumar 0*OUT! Ojha 34
The Indian ship is sinking slowly. With a high run-rate, the match seems to have already slipped away. Ojha is bowled by Cummins trying to pull the ball.
Ind A 149/6 | Overs 35 | Ojha 16*, Narwal 1*OUT! Jadhav 35
Kedar Jadhav tries to cut at ball pitched just outside off stump and nicks to keeper Thomas. Miquel Cummins gets a breakthrough after Jadhav and Ojha were building up a small partnership here.
India A in deep trouble now.
Ind A 115/5 | Overs 28 | Jadhav 20*, Ojha 1* OUT! Yuvraj 40, Pathan 0
Double blow for India. Skipper is gone followed by Yusuf Pathan. No magic this time from the skipper. A typical Yuvraj dismissal, goes for a cover drive and hits it straight to extra cover off Nikita Miller.
New batsman Yusuf Pathan will be disappointed edging a delivery pitched outside off stump to the slips.
Ind A 83/3 | Overs 20 | Yuvraj 18*, Jadhav 1* OUT! Chand 38
Unmukt Chand is out. Trying to break the shackles, Chand holes the ball to long on. New man is wicketkeeper Kedar Jadhav.
Ind A 71/2 | Overs 18 | Chand 37*, Yuvraj 18*
A much-needed partnership being stitched by a confident-looking Unmukt Chand and Yuvraj. The pair completed a 50-run partnership in the 17th over.
Ind A 43/2 | Overs 12 | Chand 19*, Yuvraj 8*
Chand gets a full delivery on middle and leg stump from Russell and he hits the ball for a four towards the midwicket region. In the next over, Carter bowls a full delivery outside off-stump and Chand gets another four. This time the ball is hit past mid-off.
Ind A 24/2 | Overs 7 | Chand 6*, Yuvraj 3*OUT! Mandeep 3
Mandeep tries to cut an away going delivery but edges it to the keeper Devon Thomas. India A in trouble now with two wickets down. Skipper Yuvraj SIngh walks in.
It’s been a fine performance by West Indies A so far. Good first innings score and two quick wickets with the ball.
Ind A 16/1 | Overs 6 | Chand 3*, Mandeep 1*OUT! Uthappa 10
Bowled. The ball takes inside edge off Uthappa’s bat and rolls on to the stumps. Mandeep Singh is the new man in.
Ind A 12/0 | Overs 4 | Chand 2*, Uthappa 8*
Watchful start from the openers. Except for the boundary hit by Uthappa in the first over, it’s been a quiet beginning. With an explosive opener like Uthappa, some aggressive shots are never far away.
Welcome back. Robin Uthappa and Unmukt Chand have walked in to chase the target of 280. To recap the first innings, West Indies A were powered to formidable total thanks to Jonathan Carter’s ton.
WI A 279/6 | Overs 50 | Thomas 13*, Nurse 12*
A sparkling ton by Jonathan Carter 133(132) has helped West Indies A to post a formidable score to challenge the might of Indian batting. Carter presented an array of strokes and kept the bowlers on their toes.
WI A 243/5 | Overs 46 | Carter 123 *, Thomas 0* OUT! Johnson 39
Vinay Kumar provides the much needed breakthrough by dismissing Johnson for 39. But the dangerman Carter is still on the crease looking good to hit a few more out of the park.
WI A 232/4 | Overs 45 | Carter 114 * Johnson 37*
A superb century by Jonathan Carter. He is on fire hitting the bowlers all around the park supported by a steady Johnson from the other end. At one point it looked like West Indies A will be content with a score of 250 but, Carter’s blazing ton has set up the team for a formidable total.
50 runs have come off the last five overs.
WI A 182/4 | Overs 40 | Carter 71 * Johnson 33*
Carter and Johnson are taking their chances and going after the Indian bowling. The Windies have a good partnership going on here at a brisk rate. Carter with his eyes set, is showing his aggressive intent. Perhaps time for the skipper to roll his arms and break this partnership.
WI A 144/4 | Overs 35 | Carter 57* Johnson 10*
Carter has played sensibly so far and collected a well-deserved half century. After the two quick wickets off Pathan’s over, it’s a resurrection process yet again and their run-rate too hasn’t been impressive throughout the match.
Good teams often consolidate further from strong positions. West Indies A had clawed back through the partnership of Ewards and Carter. With Edwards and new man Russell gone in quick succession, the run-scoring has slowed down.
It will up to Carter now to keep his wicket intact.
WI A 112/4 | Overs 28 | Carter 36* Johnson 0*OUT! Edwards 36 &Russell 12
Just when the partnership was blooming, Yusuf Pathan struck twice. The off-spinner was hit for a few runs in his spell but the aggressive batting once again costing West Indies A heavily.
After hitting a six, Edwards once again charges down the track but Pathan fires the ball towards his leg. Naman Ojha behind the stumps was accurate in collecting the ball and whipped off the bails. The big-hitter Andre Russell comes on and hoicks the bowler twice into the stands. An over-ambitious Russell tries to send one more into the stands but the top-edge flies to Sumit Narwal at long on.
Two big breakthroughs for India A.
WI A 74/2 | Overs 23 | Edwards 29*, Carter 18*
Edwards and Carter have stitched a valuable partnership here. At 21 for two, they were pushed completely on the backfoot. The batsmen have been cautious but the important aspect is they haven’t lost any wicket.
WI A 54/2 | Overs 17 | Edwards 24*, Carter 5*
After early jolts, West Indies A are making slow progress with Edwards and Carter. While Unadkat has been slightly wayward, Nadeem is mixing his deliveries well to keep the batsmen guessing.
WI A 42/2 | Overs 12 | Edwards 20*, Carter 1*
Edwards counters Vinay Kumar’s discipline with three boundaries in the 11th over. All three boundaries runs between point and cover. On the third occasion, Unmukt Chand at point was sloppy and lets the ball pass through. Much needed runs coming for the Windies.
Shahbaz Nadeem who replaced Rahul Sharma in the playing XI comes on to bowl. Nadeem’s performance for Delhi Daredevils did attract attention of many. He will be hoping to prove effective here.
WI A 21/2 | Overs 9 | Edwards 1*, Carter 0* OUT! Fletcher c Ojha b V Kumar 15
Vinay Kumar bowling an excellent spell here. This time he sees Fletcher charging down and pitches it short. The batsman tries to pull this one towards the leg and edges it to Ojha. A good start wasted for West Indies A. Having faced most o0f the deliveries, Fletcher looked positive to get a big score, but his aggressiveness has cost him his wicket against a bowler in form.
WI A 21/1 | Overs 6 | Fletcher 15*, Edwards 1* OUT! Powell 4
Disciplined bowling reaps rewards. Vinay Kumar replacing Unadkat maintains a tight length and Powell who hardly got any strike tried to flirt outside off stump and nicks it to wicketkeeper Naman Ojha. A good start by India A bowlers.
WI A 20/0 | Overs 6 | Fletcher 15*, Powell 4*
Fletcher has retained most of the strike facing 26 deliveries. He has adopted a positive approach. In the last ball of the fifth over, Fletcher confidently pulled the ball for a boundary.
WI A 12/0 | Overs 4 | Fletcher 11*, Powell 0*
Sumit Narwal and Jaydev Unadkat make a disciplined start bowling a maiden over each. Narwal has been accurate beating the batsman consistently. While Fletcher is freeing his arms, Powell is yet to get off the mark.
