Returning to the national side is no easy task. Ask Suresh Raina. Drafted in the Indian side after a 12-month hiatus, Raina had answered his critics with his show in T20I series against South Africa. India coach Ravi Shastri has lauded Raina for his comeback in an interview with India Today: “He’s vastly experienced and he showed what experience can do. What I liked the best was he was fearless … What I liked was the intent because normally when you come back into a side after a long period of time you can be playing for your place. And that can put added pressure on you. But he went out there as if he was never out of the side and batted in that fashion. It was very good to see.”

Raina was named Man of the Match in the final T20I, scoring 43 off 27 and claiming a wicket. His next assignment will be against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the Nidahas Trophy 2018. In the series against South Africa, Raina scored 89 runs at a strike rate of 153.
