India’s squad for the three-match ODI series in Bangladesh has been announced. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the announcement via their official Twitter handle. With MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli being rested, Suresh Raina will lead the Indian team. And the other major news is the return of Robin Uthappa in the ODI squad.
Uthappa’s sizzling form in the ongoing IPL 2014 has paved his way for the comeback. Delhi’s Kedar Jadhav too has been given a chance, while Manoj Tiwary is making a comeback. While Tiwary didn’t light up IPL 7, Kedar Jadhav experienced a wonderful 2013-14 Ranji Trophy season.
Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara has finally been considered for ODIs. This will be a very important tour for the batsman who wants to be a part of India’s squad for ICC World Cup 2015.
Young left-arm spinner Akshar Patel too has been given a chance. He has been crucial to Kings XI Punjab’s fortunes in the ongoing IPL.
While this tour has been sandwiched between the IPL and the crucial tour of England, therefore the selectors have given the youngsters a chance to prove their mettle. They have also selected Wriddiman Saha as the primary wicketkeeper.
