The Indian bowlers struck thrice in quick succession as South Africa are at 135 for four after 41 overs. Ishant Sharma picked up two wickets and Zaheer Khan took one. South Africa trail India by 145 runs.
Ishant struck twice in two balls to halt South Africa’s innings. First he bowled Hashim Amla for 36. The ball pitched at a good length and came in sharply. Amla left the ball completely alone and the ball crashed into off-stump.
Jacques Kallis was out leg-before the very next ball and Ishant was on a hat-trick. He bowled his hat-trick ball well outside the off-stump and AB de Villiers left it alone.
Next over Zaheer dismissed Graeme Smith leg-before for 68 off 119 balls. He bowled a full-length delivery, which swung in and Smith missed. The Indians appealed and the umpire had no hesitation in raising his finger. That is the 14th time Zaheer has dismissed Smith in international cricket.
De Villiers is batting on three and JP Duminy is on two.
