After the Indian Premier League (IPL) India will be heading for a short tour of Bangladesh for a three match One Day International (ODI) series. The three matches will played on 15th, 17th and 19th June respectively in Dhaka.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli are going to rested for the tour before the long tour of England, which will start in the end of June. Rohit Sharma and R Ashwin are the leading contenders to captain the side in the absence of Dhoni. Rohit led the Mumbai Indians to victory in the IPL last year and he will be most likely be given the captain arm band for the tour reported Hindustan Times.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had made a commitment to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and they managed to honour it by sending their team for a short tour before the England tour. BCCI will not be sending its top players, but chance might be given to them who perform well during this IPL. The team will be picked after the final of the IPL.
“We will pick the team once the IPL final is over. The team will leave a couple of days before the first ODI. So, there is plenty of time to assess a few players currently playing in the IPL”, said a BCCI official.
