Former India batsman VVS Laxman is positive about India’s chances in India’s ongoing test series against England. Laxman, often remembered for his heroic innings in Eden Gardens where he scored 281, said that if India played to their potential, they will win the series.

In an interview with Mid-Day, Laxman said, “This time it’s a good opportunity to beat England. We have the talent to do well. I was quite impressed with the way our youngsters played in South Africa and New Zealand. We’ve got the talent and potential.”

Laxman had good words to say about India’s bowling attack too. “I’ve been with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ishant Sharma during the IPL. Bhuvi is the most skillful bowler I have seen in my career. Ishant bowls his heart out. I am sure both will have a huge impact in England. Mohd Shami’s pace will complement both.”, he said.

The former India batsman also added how the current Indian team enjoyed English conditions, citing the example of their performance in Champions Trophy which was played last year. Laxman was also all praise for MS Dhoni, “Dhoni did an excellent job in maintaining a good dressing room environment when we lost in England and Australia.

“A lot of credit has to go to the skipper. We’ve had enough opportunity to know that he’s one of the best captains the world has ever seen, and he will lead from the front this time in England too.”, he said.
