Young left-arm spinner from Gujarat, Siddharth Desai took 4/40 and played a vital role in skittling out the Sri Lanka Under-19sfor 150 to help India U19s to victory by an innings and 147 runs in the second Youth Test at Hambantota.

Yatin Mangwani lent good support to Desai and took 2/9 in nine overs as the Indian Colts won the two-match series 2-0.

For Sri Lanka U-19s, nobody really provided any resistance apart from Nuwanidu Fernando who batted over two hours for his 28. The No 8 Sandun Mendis stroked four boundaries in his 26 to help Sri Lanka pass 150 after Fernando was the sixth man out with the team score at 99.

Earlier on in Sri Lanka’s first innings, left-arm medium pacer Mohit Jangra (4/76) was the pick of the bowlers while Mangwani (2/30), Ayush Badoni (2/39) and Desai (2/84) scalped two wickets each to wrap up the hosts for 316 in 114.3 overs, forcing them to follow on.

The India U-19s batted well to post a big total of 613/8 in their first innings. Pavan Shah registered the second-highest individual score in Under 19 Test cricket when he made 282, while Atharwa Taide scored 177 to follow up on his century in the first match.

With the youth Test series now over, India U-19s will face off in the limited-overs series starting July 29 at the P Sara Oval.
