Cuttack: Oct 9, 2013

The ground and other properties of Barabati Stadium have been insured for a whopping sum of Rs 20 crore for the One-Day International (ODI) cricket match between India and Australia to be played at Cuttack on October 26.

The host Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has inked this deal with Oriental Insurance Company, informed the OCA secretary Asirbad Behera at Cuttack on Wednesday.

Giving a break-up of the insurance components, Behera said the stadium has been insured for Rs 5 crore for standard fire and peril policy while the spectators and visitors have been covered under public liability insurance policy for Rs 7 crore. The special contingency insurance policy would cover the remaining Rs 8 crore, he added.

Behera further informed that the tickets for the match would be available online from Thursday.

Talking to reporters, he said only 10 percent of the 32,990 tickets available for public would be sold online and each person can purchase only two tickets from the website.

The unsold tickets reserved for online shall be transferred to the counters for public sale on October 23, Behera informed.

With a stadium capacity of about 45,000, exactly 44,455 tickets are being printed this time of which 12,640 are reserved for Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sponsors, members, affiliated units of OCA and Odisha Olympic Association.

The affiliated units and associate members can purchase their tickets on October 20 and 21, Behera said adding that in order to get rid of fake and bogus tickets, the Association for the first time has introduced bar-coding system and other security features on the tickets.

While tickets for Galleries 1, 2, 3 and 4 are fixed at Rs 500 each, the tickets for Galleries 6 and 7 are priced at Rs 400. Some tickets of Gallery 6 would be available as Players’ concession for Rs 200 each.

Similarly, the prices of tickets for Special Enclosures are fixed at Rs 2000, a ticket in Corporate Gallery would cost Rs 3000, New Pavilion ticket is priced at Rs 4000, a ticket in AC box in Gallery 4 would cost Rs 5000 and for the elite audience, a ticket in Corporate box has priced at Rs 10,000, sources said.

The stadium this time would have 14 gates (two more than previous matches) to facilitate the entry and exit of the crowd.

Keeping in view the safety of players, the spectators are not allowed to carry transistors, mirrors, bugles, crackers, glass and helmets to the galleries.

However, the authorities have allowed the spectators to carry dry food, cooked food in paper packets along with water bottles of one litre or more. Water pouches and bottles less than a litre are strictly prohibited inside the stadium, said a release issued by the OCA.
