The Nagpur city police used force to disperse mob of cricket fans who became unruly after learning that tickets for the sixth ODI between India and Australia, scheduled to be played on October 30, have been sold out.
Vidarbha Cricket Association opened the sale of Rs 300 and Rs 500 tickets at a school near the VCA Stadium in Civil Lines area, and soon the tickets were sold out.
Tension prevailed as many ticket-seekers were disappointed. Some barricades were pushed down. Police resorted to “mild” lathicharge to disperse the crowd. Nobody was injured.
Australia are currently leading the series 2-1 with two more matches to go.
