David Warner remains determined to ‘do everything’ to get fit for the third Test between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) starting December 26.
Warner says that a sore thumb would not be the reason for him to miss out the Boxing Day Test, as his side will look to seal series against a struggling India. The left-handed batsman suffered an injury in the thumb while batting in the second innings of the second Test at The Gabba in Brisbane.
Warner was quoted as saying by the Sydney Morning Herald, “I will definitely be playing – I will be doing everything I can. Obviously it’s a bit painful, it’s the one I broke before, but I’m not missing a Boxing Day test, that’s for sure.”
Meanwhile, Shane Watson on Tuesdayleft the training session in distress after he was hit by a bouncer off Australia pacer James Pattinson, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
The training session was ended abruptly after the blow at the MCG as the Australians looked disturbed after Watson, who fell to his knees after suffering the blow, left the training session.
While Watson walked out of the nets and sat on the ground for sometime, Pattinson too was left shaken as players and the Australian cricket officials rushed to Watson to check on him. Watson sat outside the nets for sometime with his head in his hands, and several minutes later he left for the dressing room with doctor Peter Brukner.
