England will begin the second session of day three of the second Test against India at Mumbai with the hope of putting as many runs on the board as possible.
Trailing by 29 runs, the visitors will hope to post a lead of minimum 100, given that they will bat fourth on a Wankhede pitch that is deteriorating.
Talismanic batsman Kevin Pietersen (138 not out) is still at the crease, after sharing a 206-run stand with captain Alastair Cook (122). The England captain was one of two wickets to fall for England in the first session that yielded 120 runs; Jonny Bairstow (9) was the other.
For India, Pragyan Ojha and Ravichandran Ashwin picked up the two wickets and will hope to restrict England’s charge in the second session.
Brief Scores: India 327 (Cheteshwar Pujara 135, Ravichandran Ashwin 68; Monty Panesar 5 for 129, Greame Swann 4 for 70) lead England 298 for 4 (Kevin Pietersen 138*, Alastair Cook 122; Pragyan Ojha 3 for 95) by 29 runs.
