Ishant Sharma produced an excellent spell to remove three England wickets in the first hour post lunch on Day Three of the first Test at Trent Bridge. Ishant removed Sam Robson, Gary Ballance and Ian Bell. England are on 180 for the loss of four wickets.
Robson was the first to go. Ishant got one to jag back in to Robson who missed it and the ball hit him on the back pad. Umpire Bruce Oxenford raised his finger. Hotspot replays showed that there was a mark on the bat but it came off the bat brushing the pads. Next wicket was that of Ballance. Coming over the wicket, Ishant got one to jag back in for the left-hander as well and saw him out leg-before for 71.
Despite the departure of two set batsmen, Ian Bell steadied the innings with fluent strokes. Just when Joe Root and Bell lef the England recovery, Isant bowled another superb delivery which saw a tentative Bell edging to keeper MS Dhoni.
