James Anderson struck with the new ball to dismiss Ravindra Jadeja for 31 on Day Five of the first Test at Trent Bridge. The match is still evenly poised as India are on 250 for seven and have a lead of 211.
Jadeja and Binny came together in the first session and batted positively. Jadeja played his longest test innings of his career. England pacers did have some issues with the new ball but ultimately Anderson got Jadeja to tentatively edge one to keeper Matt prior.
India had lost three key middle order batsmen in the first session. Binny walked in at a precarious stage hoping to make a difference on debut. After being ignored with the ball during the England innings, this was Binny’s chance to impress and he did it solidly. Since morning, he has been the only batsman who has played the pacers comfortably and most significant of all, scored runs briskly.
India can still eke out a draw if they manage to survive for at least another 10 overs from hereon.
