Former India Test captain Bishan Singh Bedi has questioned India’s team selection for the just-concluded third Test at Southampton.
Bedi pointed out that England spinner Moeen Ali, who picked up six wickets in second innings and totally eight wickets in the match, was able to unsettle the Indians. However, at the same time Ravichandran Ashwin was left out of the playing eleven for the first three Tests.
He tweeted, “MoeenAli’s offies’ll rankle Indns rest of tour & 2 think Ashwin doesn’t even fit in scheme of team strategy!Something grossly wrong smwhere! (sic)”
After winning the second Test match at Lord’s by 95 runs, India suffered a huge defeat at the hands of the hosts, as the visitors were crushed by 266 runs at Southampton on the final day. The five-match series is now levelled 1-1. The next two Tests are at Manchester (Old Trafford) and London (The Oval).
